BogTastic Braehead Moss!

A BogTastic day was held at Braehead Moss recently when the new boardwalk was officially opened by MSP and Large Heath butterfly species champion Aileen Campbell!

Despite the cold and wet, a large crowd of local people and volunteers proudly tramped the boards, and shared their enthusiasm for the many splendours of their local nature site.

Being a classic example of a raised bog, the Moss is wet throughout the year, the boardwalk will allow year-round access onto the site, and - with benches placed next to some newly-dug ponds - people will now be able to see and enjoy dragonflies up close.

It’s one of many examples of work that’s connecting people and nature across the Central Belt, and we thank EcoCoLIFE’s partner Butterfly Conservation Scotland for the excellent work and the equally excellent open day.
